SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Water is produced by two wells located along Columbia Drive. These wells produce slightly acidic water, so a limestone percolation system is operated to increase the pH. This prevents corrosion of customer plumbing and fixtures. After treatment, the water is pumped directly to the consumers with no storage facilities.

water testing
Alpine Environmental collects one sample for coliform bacteria each month. This sample is rotated between three collection sites within the system. An annual test for nitrate is collected from the source. Every three years or more, tests for metals and minerals, petroleum products, and radioactive particles are collected. The pH and alkalinity are tested monthly before and after the treatment unit to ensure that levels are correctly maintained. Results of the most recent testing are summarized in the Consumer Confidence Report.
The limestone percolation treatment adds low levels of calcium to the water. Customers may notice a white film left on utensils, glassware, or in plumbing fixtures. To remove this calcium, customers may wish to contact a water treatment system provider to determine an appropriate unit for their residence.
